Loading... Please wait...Cruise Control Calf Cable was developed some 25 years ago to help young showmen control their show cattle. For those unruly calves that won't walk, are hard to control, and just won't cooperate in the show ring.
This cable halter is much better for your calf, in the sense that it will not aggravate or irritate the calf in any way. We have all used nose rings and realize that all they do is aggravate the calf after time, and continue to bleed when you are not able to get the result you need. Spike chains also aggravate and irritate the skin under the chin. Cruise Control Cable Halters is a great tool to achieve overall control, while maintaining the safety of the calf and the showman.
*Cruise Control Cable Halter is made of 1/8" galvanized cable. This is our first model and is to be used on milder attitude calves, with smaller issues such as leading or holding head high.
*Emergency Brake Cable Halter was developed for those calves that really need an attitude adjustment. This cable is made of 3/32" galvanized cable. This will surely put the brakes on those with bad attitudes! We suggest using this cable when your calves are trying to duck their head and run off on you.
*Sheep/Goat Cable Halter - By request, we now have the Cruise Control Sheep/Goat Cables. They are made of 3/32" galvanized cable.
Our cables are completely adjustable. Please be sure to tighten all screws before use and any time you adjust. We recommend using Blue Loctite glue to secure screws. When adjustment is needed, simply break open glue, readjust and reapply glue to secure. Regarding the fit of halter, make sure that you have little to no slack (see photo above).
For maximum effectiveness, tie your calf daily using the halter and a rope lead, with head high. After several days, you will see the respect. Soreness is not unusual, if this occurs, give the calf a break. If calf loses respect for the cable, go back to tying head high on a daily basis. *Note: We only suggest to use cable halters as recommended above. We do not use this halter for breaking calves. They must be broke to tie before you can or should use it. The cable is not harmful to the calf in any way, if used as suggested.
You can use the halters in all aspects of daily care, as well as in the show ring! If using in the show ring, put a leather show halter over the cable with nylon/leather lead attached. *See photo. We have found the best way to do this is to use a cable tie on the right side and on the left side, run your snap lead through the O ring of leather halter.
*THIS IS NOT A BREAKING HALTER!
